The Company

Introducing our company

PR-Evolution Dance Company was founded in 2003. After returning from the world-renowned Rambert Dance Company in London, the ensemble started under the direction of Attila Kun without permanent members, following a project-based system. In 2008 Zsófia Nemes took over the direction of the company, which, having grown with new creative contributors, evolved into one of the most prolific companies of the contemporary Hungarian dance scene. The company’s work is defined by strong technical expectations and sophisticated artistic expression. PR-Evolution Dance Company has been operating since 2014 as a priority category dance company. Their credo and goal are to find new avenues and promote contemporary dance. Through the beauty of dance, the expressive power of movements and the play of the human body, the images, moods and emotions which interweave our everyday lives are presented.

The company’s aspirations and long-term goals

Vision

  • Continuing the principles laid down at the foundation of the company: such as new quality, high technical standards, and continual cooperation with foreign dancers and choreographers to gain experience in order to solidify the knowledge obtained at international practices (workshops and training) in the Hungarian context
  • Inviting guest artists and guest choreographers to Hungarian workshops (Myriam Naidy French choreographer, Leo Mujic Croatian choreographer, dancers of the Rambert Dance Company in London)
  • Promoting the awareness and recognition of dance culture, its emancipation from the shackles of stratum culture and endeavouring to move towards popular culture to make the acceptance and inclusion of dance part of the ordinary person’s everyday life
  • A pedagogical aspiration – dance lessons at kindergartens and schools. The inclusion of modern dance in secondary school physical education classes, demonstrating a performance and then introducing the children to some simple dance exercises which do not require any special technical skills
  • Strengthening cooperation with various contemporary forums, such as galleries, museums, studio theatres, and even with particular mediums; joint participation in one another’s projects, the development of enduring collaboration
